For many years, Jewish students at Truman State University gathered informally to socialize and celebrate holidays. In 2000, a group of students formed Hillel, gained University recogntion, and became affiliated with the national organization.
Truman Hillel members:
~hold weekly meetings while classes are in session
~organize monthly shabbat dinners
~arrange carpools to and accomodations in Columbia for High Holy Days services
~take part in Truman religious roundtables and similar events
~act as the voice of the Jewish community on campus
